It's October

And school is upon me. Minimum 40-60 hours a week at school = no time for crafts. Also, very little money helps that ultimatum. Maybe later, maybe some other time. As far as I go...no crafts for a while I'm sure. As far as my friend goes? Well, it's probably the same. Ta~

TWO! Updates! - SamRI

First! I know that it has been FOREVER since I posted anything, and even further in the forever that my partner here has posted something; we have both been in a craft-rutt, so-to-speak...anyways, I have completed two, count-em, TWO, projects within the past week or so. Number 1:The framed baby Yoshi's from Super Mario World piece! Every type of Yoshi, in baby form, is presented here in a very nice matting and frame! A lovely piece for say...a babies room, or a game room, or my girlfriend's room!

Number 2!: Bub (or is it Bob?) from Bubble Bobble Painting!

Acrylic on canvas it will match Bob (or Bub?) when I am start and finish it! I have a bunch of canvases, paintbrushes, and paint! So prepare for more paintings! (If...my craft-add doesn't take a hold of me first) I do have a perler bead piece, a simple Klonoa (gba sprite ver.) that I will post of picture of eventually. Personal life entry next, stop reading if you don't feel like listening to my life.

School starts in approximately two weeks and I would rather have pancreatic cancer than go back...but what can you do? Craft time during school time? This will, im sure, become a minimum. Full load of classes, with capstone research, and other blah blah blah, and I have a recipe for craft procrastination, but we'll see. It just needs to be over with.

BUT WAIT! After this year is grad school! And where? Heck if I know!!!! I should probably figure that out say...within the next month? When was I supposed to be working on this? Answer: the past three months. GRE's too. Woo. But that ends my rant/story. *The more you know*

GAMEBOY CLOCK! - SamRI

So the story begins about a 1.5 weeks ago. I came across a Goodwill and found an old Gameboy in it. Because I am a whore for collecting these things (people that know me can agree to this) I bought it. Turns out: it didn't work. After an hour or two trying to fix it I gave up and pronounced it officially dead. Know I had a useless Gameboy. What to do with it?

A few minutes of thinking and it came to me: a clock! A few more minutes of this strange "thinking" I though of an addition to this: the clock lights up when you flip with Gameboy on/off switch. So I instantly set about working...when I got off work. A week later with much hardship, use of my dremel, sodering gun and newly purchased glue gun...

~I give you the Gameboy Clock!!!~

When the switch is flipped:
Hope you enjoyed it!

Tarts! - SamRI

All craft projects are kind of at a halt due to lack of funds, and lack of black perler beads :( I had a safeway gift card so I decided to bake something! I chose...tarts! Blackberry to be exact. I have no clue how they turned out tastewise....I'll be trying them later today.

[EDIT] The tarts are basically amazing. Crust is a little too thick...but when the crust itself tastes delicious...it just doesn't matter.

Bubble Bobble towel at 100%!!! Wooo!!! - mochi

IT IS COMPLETED!!! I CAN FINALLY START A NEW PROJECT!!! Although, I have to say...after figuring out how to cross stitch correctly (stitching ALL the Xs in the same direction), I really want to do another cross stitch project. :P I was thinking about figuring out what to do with my yarn stash...I had started a nice little blanket with Rowan Polar, but Rowan discontinued that line (just my luck, it's the second time that's happened to me), so yeah. Finding the same lot of colors and stuff has been a pain in the ass. So I figure I ought to just try and figure something out with the yarn I already have. Oh well, we shall see what happens!

IT'S DONE!! WOO!! I can actually use it now after I run it through the wash!! ^_^

Bub is now complete!! - mochi

Woohoooo!!!! Just one more bubble left, and the towel will be complete!! :D I guess I'll be finished with it tomorrow, providing I have enough attention span for it.

In other news, I have a meeting with Mission Beach Cafe! I'll just be bringing in a resume and meeting with the kitchen manager, and hopefully catch the very busy pastry chef...then hopefully head to Davis for some sushi with my godbrothers. Also, I might get a decorating job at That Takes the Cake, a cupcake place in Marina. I've applied to a dozen other jobs, so hopefully I hear from them soon. I really need a job soon, because after this month I have no more school loans coming in, and I kinda got screwed over at Candybar since the chef took back the offer he gave me to work 2 days a week. Oh well, hopefully I'll find something better and more realistic of a kitchen setting than Candybar is. I also have the option to move back to Seattle or Manila, but I suppose that's another blog entry...I dont feel like typing it all out right now. Don't worry, I'm sure I'll figure things out soon. :)

Anyway hopefully once I get finished with the towel and find a job, I can spare a little money to get more Perler beads to start a new project...I also wanna do something with my fat yarn stash, so we'll see what I come up with this summer!

SUMMER IS HERE - SamRI

Summer is here and I can finally start crafting again!!! Expect moar Perler bead creations, possible x-stitch (though...it'd be the same as Mochi's) Pixel cookies? Who knows? ALL?! You'll just have to wait and find out!

2nd bubble done, project at 60% completion!! - mochi

Woohooooo!! Just Bob and one more bubble till it's finished!! I've decided that the centering will probably fix itself when the towel is finished. Also, I wanted to make it seem like the dinosaurs and bubbles were kinda floating around like they do in the game, so I didn't bother centering it that way either.

In other news, I've been doing an average of 30 hours a week at Candybar (www.candybarsf.com), and it seems that 3 days off isn't enough time for me to get motivated to be crafty...but my new roommate, Hannah, and of course SamRI have been encouraging (that includes a trip to Michaels that was almost an ordeal, and talking to Sam for the first time in ages).

Anyway, future projects include finishing up the towel, dinking around with my new soldering iron, getting back into knitting, trying to think up new Perler and cross stitch projects, and creating a dessert buffet for a friend's bridal shower. Stay tuned!

School almost over...crafts can start up again.

So school has taken it's toll with with 1.5 weeks left, I need to pass my classes. Which means mucho mucho mucho homework, and mucho studying...which is exactly what I have been doing the past month, which is why I have not crafted anything. BUT! once school is done, I'll have plently of free time, AND $$$ so I can buy stuff to do crafty things with...keep watching!

Bob is Complete!! - mochi

Is it me, or does his left eye look a little retarded? In any case, Bob is finished, and I'm so happy he came out okay. Unfortunately, I didn't get the centering right, so I was thinking of adding Bob's and Bub's names next to them to fix the problem...not sure how I'm going to do it exactly, all I know is that it's going to be going vertical. I just don't know if I should orient the lettering so it reads top to bottom, or just turn it 90 degrees. Blah. Sorry, I'm probably not making sense. >.< Anyway, I should be getting to bed...Human Resources Management certification exam tomorrow...egh. Good night, world.

Shadow Box Complete! - SamRI

So, starting late at night, and finishing even later at night. My NES controller shadowbox/something is complete! I have a great idea for a set/series....though the logistics will be hard. The flash messes with the white...it looks much better in person :) Now for sleep..and tests, and school..and dentists, tomorrow morning..

I finished the bubble! - mochi

...and that's all I got done... haha. It's been busy busy busy bee over on my part of the coast. In the past week, I flew home to the Bay from Seattle, went through my first week of non-kitchen classes, been slowly cleaning up my room (it's hard to see the progress when you look at it, but it's there..), took two midterms, made two kinds of chocolate Easter eggs (peanut butter cream cheese and coconut cream cheese) and maple carrot cupcakes with maple cream chese icing (topped with green coconut flakes and jelly beans to look like Easter eggs), scored a job at Candybar, went to an Easter Sunday brunch at a friend's and ate LOADS of yummy food, two short homework assignments, and a small fraction of my laundry up until I had to go to school today. But rest assured, as I watch Jack Bauer traipse around kicking terrorist ass tonight I will be continuing work on the stitching and maybe even some Perler stuff. Yay!

Btw...having a DVR rocks my socks...now I can catch up on House and whatever else I miss when I'm in class or being spacey! Woo!!

I'll post pictures after tonight's crafty-time..

School and downtime - SamRI

No new posts thanks to the evil that is "school." Mucho homework, and tests, and labs, and ect. So no time/energy for crafts :( I have been thinking about getting into baking a bit...but we'll see.

On the flip-side. Mochi apparently has been making progress with her cross-stitch...I can't wait to see...
